A new camera body was overdue. I'm sorely missing mirror prerelease and better bracketing. Therefore, I originally planned to get a D300 - but the arrival of the D700 has kinda changed my plans... because full frame is what I really want in the long run.
So, what to do? I decided to safe the money that I planned for the D300, narrowing down the decision to a used D200 or a new Fuji S5 pro - and the extra dynamic range of the S5 pro convinced me (because one of my standard situations is shooting is bright daylight during my mountain trekking tours, and its always one hell of a struggle between washed out highlights and drowned shadows).
So now its mine and I'm the happy owner of a brand new Fuji Finepix S5 pro (aka "the D200 with the Fuji SuperCCD sensor"). Yeee-haw! :-) I'll keep you posted how it works for me (today I could only make some test shots - and they revealed nothing new, but it was a nice confirmation: auto white balance and color are extremely accurate).
